ALASKA…BORA BORA…THE SOUTH PACIFIC….
WHO HASN’T DREAMED OF VISITING THESE PLACES?

Patrick Hill's first sailing book, HOME on the WAVES (originally called "So Where Do You Go At Night?),
describes his family’s South Seas and Alaska sailing adventure.
He has just completed his second sailing book, EXPLORE THE ALASKAN COAST, a rare and unique trip.
His third book, "DO IT SOON - DO IT NOW!" is underway about sailing across
the Great Lakes to the Bahamas, via the Erie Canal, New York, and Miami.

Patrick, a civil engineer, and his wife, Heather, a legal secretary, wanted a change of lifestyle. So they built a 42' fibreglass sailboat, Sky One Hundred, in their backyard.

Then they packed up their children, Jeremy, 16, and Erica, 12, and headed out for a 15,000 mile, 14 month adventure in pursuit of their dream.

They harbour-hopped down the Californian and Mexican coasts, crossed the Pacific, visiting the Marquesan Islands, exotic Tuamotu atolls, Tahiti, and the Society Islands.

Heading back north from Bora Bora (Patrick only had a 12 month leave of absence) they visited the Hawaiian Islands.

Then, for a temperature change, and not the usual route home, they crossed the north Pacific to view tidewater glaciers in Alaska, before returning to Vancouver.

"This is a wonderful story of meeting new people, seeing exotic places, and the excitement that comes from crossing oceans." - Pacific Yachting

"Hill's description of these tropical seas really does conjure up visions of warmth and palm trees. The story moves along all too quickly, and by the end I wished for another hundred pages." - Canadian Yachting West

"Many challenging environmental and human experiences and 14 months later they return to Vancouver. The book has colour photos and a good list of Sky One Hundred's equipment as well as each member's afterthoughts on the voyage."
- Western Mariner

"… a 14 month trip to French Polynesia ... up to Glacier Bay, Alaska ... a story of meeting people ... their hospitality ... exciting experiences interwoven with the excitement of crossing oceans ... keeping safe and living in a close family environment ..." - 48° North

“Family, love, and adventure are all tied together in Patrick Hill’s alluring travel memoir….” - Chanticlair Editorial Review
